Meet Rose Kitney
Rose Kitney isn't new to public service, she's spent three decades earning the trust of Peterborough families as a School Board Trustee. What she's bringing to Council is a fresh set of priorities, built from years of listening on the ground: real solutions to real problems, from downtown safety to affordable housing to jobs.

Priorities
Rose's platform is built on what residents are telling her: Peterborough needs bold action on growth, and steady leadership on safety, services, and cost of living.

A Multi-Use Sports and Conference Centre would bring visitors, developers, and investment to Peterborough, funded through private, provincial, or federal partnerships, not taxpayers alone. Making Peterborough a destination of choice means new business, new revenue, and new jobs.

Peterborough families can't sustain 6.5% annual tax increases. Rose will push for real budget efficiencies to ease the burden on taxpayers going forward.

Council must continue working with Cavan Monaghan Township on annexation opportunities, especially around the Peterborough Airport, to open the door to future growth.

It's time to take back our downtown. Rose supports immediate action on drug use in the core, paired with increased social services and program investment, so downtown is safe and businesses can thrive again.

The situation at One City Peterborough/Trinity Hub demands urgent attention to protect the safety of the downtown core. Rose also supports consistent, enforced speed limits in residential neighbourhoods so every street is safe for families.

Roads, infrastructure, and core services are the backbone of a healthy city. Rose will fight to keep community priorities protected in the municipal budget.

Peterborough's unemployment rate remains among the highest in the country. Rose believes a real focus on economic development can change that, making Peterborough a destination for new residents, visitors, and business alike.

The Tiny Homes project on Wolfe Street, run by the Elizabeth Fry Society, is a step in the right direction. Rose supports expanding the program and shelter capacity, backed by community outreach to help marginalized individuals build long-term stability.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Rose supports multi-level housing and increased density to expand affordable options with genuine community consultation before any new builds.
